Sarah Graves (1) was born in 1786 and died 19 Nov. 1860. She married Michael Stroup. He was born in 1782 and died 29 May 1851.

They were "natives of PA and of English descent", according to a biographical sketch for their son Henry, published in the 1880's, for Kent Co., Michigan. It also said Henry was brought up and educated in Seneca Co., NY, so Sarah and Michael probably moved there from PA. The sketch also stated that his "great-grandmother, Amanda Whitmore, lived to the enormous age of 126 years". (R-1)

CHILDREN OF SARAH GRAVES (1) AND MICHAEL STROUP

Henry Stroup (2) was born in 1815 in PA. He moved to Seneca Co., NY, where he was brought up and educated. He married Mary Sandford in 1815. She was from NY and was of Scotch and English ancestry. He worked on the Erie Canal in NY state as a driver for 7 years, and then spent about 20 years driving logs on the Flat River in MI. They may have lived in Washtenaw Co., MI. (R-1)

Henry Stroup (6) first married Isadore Higgins. She died. He then married Ella (Richer) Gross who was 26 years younger than him. (R-1)
