GENERATION 1
William H. Graves (1) about 1845 in NY, died 28 Oct. 1903 in Wilton Center, Will Co., IL, and was buried in Wilton Center. He married Sarah Elizabeth Rose on 15 March 1869 in Wilton Center, Will Co., IL. She was born about 1849 in England or in English Canada.
They were in the 1880 census for Wilton Center, Will Co., IL, ED 220, where he was listed as laborer, self and parents born in OH, Sarah and parents born in England. In the 1900 census for Wilton Center, ED 153, he was listed as farm laborer, born NY. Sarah was in the 1910 census for Wilton Center, ED 204, living with daughter Mary and son-in-law George Pester.
The ancestry of William H. Graves is not known. However, the names and places are very
similar to the descendants of Deacon George Graves of Hartford, CT (genealogy

He was born about 1863 in IL.
They were in the 1910 census for Wilton Twp., Will Co., IL, ED 204,
dwelling 42, with George listed as farmer.

Anna Elizabeth (“Annie”) Graves (4) was born 28 Oct. 1876 in
Wilton Center, Will Co., IL, and died 17 Dec. 1954 in Fort Dodge, Webster Co.,
IA. She married Clarence Alonzo
Boynton, son of William Boynton and Mary Young, in 1901 in Wilton Center,
IL. He was born in 1853 in Canada, and
died about 1929 in Calhoun Co., IA. He
first married Irena C. Nelson on 28 Nov. 1879 in Will Co., IL.
Her obituary stated: “Funeral services for Mrs. Annie
Boynton, 78, will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Bruce’s. Senior Major Jack Cheyne, retired Salvation
Army officer, will conduct the rites.
Burial will be in the Cedar cemetery near Rinard.
Mrs. Boynton is a former resident of Farnhamville and Somers,
had made her home in Fort Dodge for the past 12 years. She died Thursday afternoon at the home of
her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Darrell Chambers, 522 Third Ave.
North. She had made her home with Mr.
& Mrs. Chambers for the past 8 years.
Born Oct. 28, 1876 in Wilton Center, Ill., Mrs. Boynton was
the former Annie Graves. Her parents
were the late Mr. & Mrs. William H. Graves. She was married to Clarence Boynton at Wilton Center in 1901.
The couple lived in Ill. Until 1908, when they moved to
Farnhamville, Iowa. Later they lived in
Somers. Mr. Boynton died 25 years ago.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bert Anderson of Denver,
Colo., and Mrs. Chambers of Fort Dodge; eight grandchildren, and nine
great-grandchildren. Her husband, her
parents, two sisters, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild preceded her
in death.”
They were in the 1880 census for Wilton Center, Will Co., IL,
ED 220, and the 1900 census for Wilton Center, Will Co., IL, ED 153. He was listed as laborer in 1880 with wife
Irena. In 1900 he was listed as
carpenter and widower. They were in the
1910 census for Farnhamville, Calhoun Co., IA, ED 36. They were in the 1920 census for Lost Grove Twp., Webster Co.,
IA, ED 233. He was listed as carpenter
in the last two censuses.
Their first two children were born in Wilton Center, Wilton Twp.,

Anderson, 24 Feb. 1946 (Dakota City, NE), d. 8 April 1968 (St. Mary’s Corwin Hosp., Pueblo, CO). She was bur. in Rosehill Cem., Rockwell City, Calhoun Co., IA. Charles was b. 4 July 1900 in Millvale, Allegheny Co., PA, and d. 18 Nov. 1972 in Knierim, Calhoun Co., IA. Charles and Elva divorced in the 1940’s, and he m(2) Jane ‑‑‑‑‑‑. They divorced and he m(3) in May 1953 to Mrs. Rose Mary Underberg Mills. Bert was b. 12 Aug. 1905, and d. 9 May 1971 in Gallup, NM.
15. Arlene Boynton, b. 16 Sept. 1912, m. Darrell Chambers, 1920, d. 19 Nov. 1990. She was bur. Oakland Cem., Fort Dodge, Webster Co., IA.
