Charles Greaves (1) was born about 1801 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.  He married Mary ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1805 in Birmingham, Warwickshire.  They were in the 1841 census for St. George Parish, Birmingham, Warwickshire.  All their children were born in Birmingham.

Charles Greaves (2) was born about 1823 in Birmingham, Warwickshire.  He married Eliza ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1827 in Aston, Warwickshire.  They were in the 1851 and 1861 censuses for Aston, Warwickshire.  All their children were born in Aston.

George Greaves(3) was born about 1824 or 1825 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.  He married Ann ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1828 in Birmingham, Warwickshire.  They were in the 1851 and 1861 censuses for Birmingham.  He was a pearl button maker.  All their children were born in Birmingham.

Joseph Greaves (5) was born about 1833 or 1835 in Birmingham, Warwickshire.  He married Mary ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1836 in Bromsgrove, Warwickshire.  They were in the 1871 census for Aston, Warwickshire, and the 1881 census for Birmingham, Warwickshire.  He was a coal agent.  All their children were born in Birmingham.

Gideon Greaves (7) was born about 1837 in Dudley, Birmingham, Warwickshire.  He married Eliza Ann ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1837 in Manchester Lancashire.  They were in the 1871 census for Oldham, Lancashire, and in the 1881 census for Manchester, Lancashire.  He was an ornamenter or japoner (a person who decorated by coating with multiple layers of lacquer or varnish).  All their children were born in Manchester except for Mary Jane who was born in Hollinwood, Oldham, Lancashire.

CHILDREN OF CHARLES GREAVES (2) AND ELIZA ------

Charles Greaves (9) was born about 1845 in Birmingham, Warwickshire.  He married Louisa ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1849 in Birmingham.  They were in the 1871 census for Aston, Warwickshire.  He was an iron founder.  His brother George was living with them in 1871, listed as age 20, gun barrel borer.  All their children were born in Birmingham.

CHILDREN OF GEORGE GREAVES (3) AND ANN ------

George Greaves (15) was born about 1846 in Birmingham, Warwickshire.  He married Harriet ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1847 in Birmingham.  They were in the 1871 census for Aston, Warwickshire.  He was a pearl button cutter.  Their children were born in Aston, Warwickshire.

  35.  Annie Greaves, b.c. 1870.

 

John Greaves (17) was born about 1855 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.  He married Jane Newman, daughter of Thomas Newman, on 18 March 1877 in St. Matthew’s Church, Aston, Oxfordshire.  She was born about 1855 in Salford, Oxfordshire.  She is believed to have come from Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.  John Greaves was a pearl button maker and is believed to have been the first person to make a mother of pearl watch strap.

They were in the 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses for Aston Manor, Aston Parish, Warwickshire.  Their first child was born in Birmingham, and all the others in Aston.  (R‑1)
