Thomas Grieve (1) was born in 1821 in Bankhead, Bo'ness, Scotland. He married Anne Hamilton, daughter of Charles Hamilton and Katherine Gibb, on 28 Sept. 1850 in West Lothian, Bo'ness, Scotland. She was born 26 April 1824 in Bankhead, Bo'ness, Scotland, and was baptized 9 Aug. 1824. Thomas was a miner. All their children were born in West Lothian, Scotland. (R-1)

Alexander Hamilton Grieve (7) was born 31 Aug. 1860 in West Lothian, Bo'ness, Scotland. He married Mary Currie Logan, daughter of Henry Logan and Mary Ford, on 25 Nov. 1884 in Barrhill, Kirkcudbright, Scotland. She was born 19 Sept. 1862 in Blackwood (or Lesmahagow), Lanarkshire, Scotland, died 20 Nov. 1939 in Tyreeanna, VA, and was buried 23 Nov. 1939 in Spring Hill Cem., Tyreeanna, VA.

Alexander was a grocer and carried on grocery business at Corbiehall and Newtown, Scotland, and was very active in the grocery business in Lynchburg, VA. He and Mary celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on 25 Nov. 1934 in Lynchburg. They lived in Bo'ness, Scotland until 1911, when they moved to the United States. Alexander was noted for being an outstanding footballer when he lived in Scotland. (R-1)

He was an electrician for Virginia Electric Power Co. He married Irene Evelyn Taylor. She was born 2 Sept. 1898 in Bedford Co., VA, and died in 1935. (R-1)
