DESCENDANTS OF SIMPSON GRAVES AND HARRIETT ------ OF CASWELL CO., NC
GENERATION 1
Simpson Graves (1) was born about 1820 in NC, and probably died 1880-1900. He married Harriett ‑‑‑‑‑‑. She was born about 1832-1835 in NC. They were in the 1870 census for Yanceyville Twp., Caswell Co., NC, and in the 1880 census for Hightowers Twp., Caswell Co., NC. They were listed as black in 1870 and as mulatto in 1880. All their children were born in NC, probably all in Caswell Co.

GENERATION 2
CHILDREN OF SIMPSON GRAVES (1) AND HARRIETT ------
Adolphus (ÒDolphusÓ) Graves (2) was
born about 1859 (according to the 1870 census) or in May 1860 (according to the
1900 census) in NC, and died before 1920.
He married Julia ‑‑‑‑‑‑ about
1881. She was born in March 1860
in NC. They were in the 1900
census for Dan River Twp., Caswell Co., NC. They were in the 1910 census for Yanceyville Twp., Caswell
Co., NC. He was a farm laborer in
1900 and a farmer in 1910. His
widow was in the 1920 census for Dan River Twp., Caswell Co., NC, living next
to her granddaughter Anna E. Lea, her husband Thomas Lea, and their two
children.
In 1910, granddaughters Ann (or
Anna) B. Harris, 8, Mozelle Harris, 6, and Doyell or Dorothy Harris, 6, were living with them. In 1920, granddaughters Mozell and Doyell were still
living with her, but were listed as daughters with the Graves surname. It is not known which daughter these
granddaughters belonged to.
