Arthur Graves (1) married Frances Eanes. He died 28 April 1831 (in Amelia Co., Va.?). Arthur may have been a son or descendant of one of the following four Graves brothers, named in a will (of Philander Graves?) dated 10 March 1776 (in Amelia Co.?): Philander, Benjamin, Albert (written as Albet), and William. Recipients of property from the will were William Graves and Lucy Graves. (This may have been the William Graves who married Luch Wiatt, daughter of William Wiatt, on 13 July 1820 in Chesterfield Co., VA. She was 21 years of age when married, born about 1799. This William could be Arthur's son.)

Henry Graves (Arthur's son) was the administrator of the property of Arthur Graves. Mentioned in his account were William Graves (could be William's son as mentioned in William's will), Martha Graves, Ivey Graves, and Frances Graves.

The earliest date in Will Books of Amelia Co., Va. for a Graves is 1774 for Philander Graves.

It is possible that Arthur is the Arthur Graves, descended from Capt. Thomas Graves, who was born 23 Nov. 1750 in Chesterfield Co., Va., and was a son of William Graves and Sarah Cox. William was born 4 July 1725 in Chesterfield Co., Va., and died 24 Jan. 1776. His will was dated 17 Jan. 1776.

The father of William Graves, born 1725, was William Graves, baptized 29 April 1688 in St. Peter's Church, Abingdon Parish, Gloucester Co., Va. He lived in Chesterfield Co., Va. His will, probated Oct. 1756, names his son William as executor, and mentions his grandsons Pliny and Arthur. (R-1)

Her father was probably Benjamin W. Gill, born 21 March 1813, died 15 Nov. 1877 (?), married July 1835 (?), according to the Gill family records. (R-1)
