Richard Greaves or Grevis (1) of Moseley, Worcester, died and was buried in 1601. He married Ann Green, sister of Richard Green of Wykin, Warwick. Richard Green died in 1602.

Moseley Hall and Yardley, Worcester, were long in the possession of the family of Greves or Grevis, "an ancient house founded in England by one of the companions in arms of the Conqueror" (Burke). Thomas Greves entered his pedigree at the visitation of Worcester in 1634, as did Richard in 1683.

Arms, Or, on a fers Azure, between 3 pellets each charged with a lion's head erased Or, a griffon passant between 2 escallop shells of the last.

Crest, a squirrel sejeant bendy sinister of 4 argent and sable, holding between his paws an escallop shell Or.

Date of grant 1533. These arms and crest are nothing whatever like those of Beeley, Mayfield, Page Hall, etc.

Sir Richard Greves or Greaves (2) of Moseley, Kt., J.P., D.L., Wales, died in 1632. He married Ann Leighton, daughter of Thomas Leighton of Watlesborough, Salop, and Elizabeth Gerald, daughter of Sir William Gerald, Lord Chancellor of Ireland. Ann died in 1653.

Col. Richard Greves or Greaves (12), J.P., was born about 1618 and died in 1671 at about age 53. He married Ann Henshaw, daughter of ------ Henshaw of London. She died in 1682.

Charles Greaves (46) was born in 1745 and died in 1835. He was of Moseley Hall and of Bury St. Edmunds, and was Capt. in the Army. He first married Elizabeth James, daughter of Col. Demetrius James of Worcester, cousin and heir of Richard James of Ightham Court, Kent. She was born about 1741 and died in 1794 at age 53.

Charles secondly married Margaret Medlecott, daughter of John Medlecott of Moorton House, Kildare. There were no children by this marriage as of 1818.

Demetrius Greaves (47) was born in 1776 and died in 1861. He was of Ightham Court and of Holderness, Yorkshire, JP, DL, HS, 1833. He took the additional surname of James. He married Mary Shutt, only daughter of James Shutt of Hambleton Hall, Holderness. She died in 1853.
