Sarah Graves (1) was born in 1801. She married Joseph Turner on 30 Sept. 1822 at Bayford Parish Church, Hertfordshire, England. He was born in 1791, and was a carpenter. The marriage record in the record office in Hertford states: Joseph Turner of the Parish of Bishops Stortford, Batchelor, to Sarah Graves of this Parish, Spinster, were married in this Church by Banns on 30 Day of September 1822. Robert Orme, Rector.

The family with all children listed below was in the 1841 census at Newgate St., Hatfield (?). They were in the 1851 census at the same address, with Joseph listed as general storekeeper and carpenter, born at Southgate, Middlesex, Sarah listed as born at Bishops Stortford, and children Thomas (carpenter), William (shoemaker apprentice), Ann and Edward still at home, all children listed as born at Hatfield.

The IGI shows 3 groupings of children that could be children of this Sarah and Joseph. In the first are 5 children (Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, Thomas and William) born in Little Berkhampstead (right next to Bayford where Sarah and Joseph married, and only about 5 miles east of Hatfield), in the second are 4 children (William, Thomas, Elizabeth and John) born in Kings Langley (on the other side of Hatfield, and probably not the same family), and 2 children (John and Anne) born in Hatfield.

In the marriage records of St. Michael, Bishop's Stortford (in the Record Office, Hertford) is a marriage between George Graves and Ann Harris, both of this parish. Banns 28 Sept. 1760, 5 Oct. 1760, 12 Oct. 1760, Bull Curate. George Graves was also a witness to a wedding in 1763. Elizabeth Graves, daughter of George and Ann Graves, was baptized 12 Sept. 1766. Anne (or Ann) Turner (9) was born 23 May 1838 in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, and died 23 Jan. 1904 in Cowbridge, Glamorganshire, South Wales. She married Mark Roberts on 4 Feb. 1875 in Cheshunt, Herts. He was born 19 March 1854 in Cheshunt, and died 14 Jan. 1931 in Cowbridge. He was a milkman. (R-1)

CHILDREN OF ANNE TURNER (9) AND MARK ROBERTS

Annie Elizabeth Roberts (11) was born 15 July 1879 in Cheshunt, Herts., and died 20 Jan. 1962 in Maestey Hospital, Maestey, Glamorganshire, South Wales. She married Harry Harris Collings on 6 Sept. 1905 in Cowbridge, Glamorganshire. He was born 23 Feb. 1866 in Cardiff, Glam., and died 22 Nov. 1905 in Bridgend, Glam. He was a watch/clock repairer.
