GENERATION 1

 

Thomas Greaves (1) was born about 1738, died 19 Jan. 1799, and was buried 24 Jan. 1799 in Carrington, Cheshire, at age 61.  He married Mary Davenport on 6 Sept. 1762 in Deane-by-Bolton, Lancs.  She was baptized 17 July 1745 at Bolton St. Peters, died 31 Dec. 1801, and was buried 4 Jan. 1802 in Carrington, Cheshire.  Thomas was a paper maker and iron manufacturer of Millbank, Partington, Cheshire.  (R‑1)

John Greaves (2) was baptized 6 July 1763, died 7 Nov. 1817, and was buried 11 Nov. 1817.  He was a paper maker of Partington, near Manchester, England.  He married Sarah Pearson on 1 Dec. 1782 in Bowdon, Cheshire, near Manchester.  She died 13 Nov. 1814, and was buried 17 Nov. 1814, at age 60.  (R‑1)

John Greaves (15) was baptized 27 June 1784 in Carrington, Cheshire, and died 17 June 1830.  He was a shopkeeper.  He married Hannah Erlam on 29 July 1806 in Bowdon, Cheshire, near Manchester.  She was born 16 Jan. 1785 in Carrington, and died 18 July 1830.  (R‑1)

Thomas Greaves (20) was born 14 June 1795 and died 10 Aug. 1867.  He was of Millbank.  He first married Anne ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  He secondly married Mary Wright on 5 Dec. 1859.  The marriage record calls him widower of Partington, and her widow of Partington, daughter of Charles Johnson shopkeeper.  (R‑1)

Joseph Greaves (26) was born 30 Sept. 1810 in Partington, Cheshire.  He married Mary ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1812 in Carrington, Cheshire.  They were in the 1841 census for Carrington, Cheshire.  They were in the 1851, 1861, and 1871 censuses for Oldfield, Dunham Massey, Cheshire.  He was a farmer.  Their first 7 children were born in Carrington, and the next 3 in Oldfield, Dunham Massey, Cheshire.  (R‑1)

James Greaves (28) was born 11 July 1813 in Partington, Cheshire.  He married Felicia Walwork[1], daughter of William Walwork and Jane‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1813 in Cadishead, Lancashire.  They were in the 1841 and 1861 censuses for Carrington, Cheshire.  They were in the 1851 census for Oldfield, Dunham Massey, Cheshire.  He was an innkeeper and farmer.  All their children were born in Carrington, Cheshire.  (R‑1)

Robert Greaves (34) was born 10 Dec. 1820 in Carrington, Cheshire, near Manchester, and died 13 June 1889 in Toxteth, Liverpool.  He first married Mary Christian, daughter of Robert Christian and Alice ‑‑‑‑‑‑, on 19 March 1844 in St. Brides, Liverpool.  She was born about 1824 in Liverpool, and died 4 Aug. 1863 at age 39.  He secondly married Maria Ann Quayle, daughter of William Quayle and Margaret ‑‑‑‑‑‑, on 10 April 1872.  She was baptized 16 July 1832 in Liverpool.  Robert and Mary were in the 1851 census for Mount Pleasant, Liverpool, Lancashire, when MaryÕs widowed mother, born in Dublin, Ireland, was living with them.  They were in the 1861 census for West Derby, Lancashire.  He was in the 1871 census for St. Clement, widowed.  He was a brass founder and finisher.  All his children were born in Liverpool.  (R‑1)

Alice Greaves (58) was born 27 Dec. 1844 in Liverpool, and died 1 May 1934 in Manchester, Lancashire, England.  She married Frank Bradshaw on 15 May 1869 at St. MaryÕs, Edge Hill, West Derby, Liverpool.  He was born 8 Jan. 1847 in Woodthorpe, Yorkshire, and died 30 April 1913 in Manchester.  (R‑1)

Walter Greaves (59) was born about 1846 in Liverpool, Lancashire, and died before 1901.  He married Martha Ann ‑‑‑‑‑‑.  She was born about 1857 in Liverpool.  They were in the 1881 and 1891 censuses for Toxteth Park, Liverpool.  He was a brass founder in 1881, and an engine fitter in 1891.  Their name was spelled Graves in the 1891 census.  Martha was in the 1901 census, widowed, with both children and her brother-in-law James Greaves still living with her.

Harry Greaves Bradshaw (66) was born 19 Jan. 1872 in Toxeth Park, Liverpool, and died 12 Jan. 1960 in Manchester.  He first married Ethel Dearnley Brown on 14 Feb. 1899 in Manchester.  She was born 11 May 1877 in Manchester, and died 18 Dec. 1933 in Colwyn Bay, Wales.  He secondly married Mary Ayrton (nˇe Higson) in Sept. 1935 in Colwyn Bay.  She was born 13 April 1888 in Bagdley, Cheshire, and died 13 June 1904 in Hale, Cheshire.  All the children were born in Manchester.  (R‑1)

Ellen Bradshaw (70) was born 27 Aug. 1880 in Toxteth Park, Liverpool, and died 30 July 1965 in Johannesburg, South Africa.  She married John Edward Coates in July 1910 in Manchester.  He died 5 May 1930 in Ulverston.  All their children were born in Eccles, Lancashire.  (R‑1)

  85.  Ann Coates, b. 3 July 1919, m. Ralph de Montford Brooke, 23 Dec. 1942 (Morecambe).  Children.

 

William Platt Bradshaw (71) was born 8 Feb. 1882 in Manchester, and died in 1963 in Paraguay.  He married Rosa Becchi.  She was born in 1900 and died in 1965.  All their children were born in Paraguay.  (R‑1)

Robert Bradshaw (72) was born 8 Feb. 1882 and died 16 Aug. 1937, both in Manchester, Lancashire.  He married Eveline Coupe on 1 June 1911 in Manchester.  She was born 27 Dec. 1885 in Handsworth, Birmingham, the 4th child of Frederick Coupe and Sarah Maria Appleby, and died 19 Dec. 1939 in Manchester.  All their children were born in Manchester.  (R‑1)
