Isaac Greaves (1) was born about 1798 and died 19 Oct. 1850 at age 52 (per a notice in the local newspaper). He married Maria ------. She died in Jan. 1859. Her will, dated 5 June 1857, left everything to be shared by her grandchildren: Eliza Maria Swinden, Edward Isaac Shingler, Isaac Greaves Shingler, and Maria Greaves Shingler. If Isaac and Maria had had any other children, they would have been named in the will.

The family was listed in the 1841 census: Isaac (a shoemaker at 135 Digbeth, Birmingham), Maria (his wife), Eliza Maria Shingler (granddau., age 3), and 3 servants. No other children were listed. (R-1)

Eliza Greaves (2) was born 18 Aug. 1818, and was baptized 3 April 1820 at St. Philips, Birmingham, England. She married Edward Shingler on 11 July 1837 at St. Bartholomew, Edgbaston. (R-1)
