GENERATION 1
Joseph Greaves (1) may have been born about 1850 (based on the date of birth for his wife) and died by 1886. He was listed as druggist in the marriage record of his daughter Ada, and as wholesale drysalter in the death record of his widow. He married Mary Ellen Cooper. She was born in 1854 and died 16 Sept. 1926 of diabetes mellitus (diabetic coma) at Victoria Infirmary, while living at 10 Baker St., Glasgow. She secondly married George Taylor on 23 Nov. 1886 at St. Ninian's Church, Pollokshaws Rd., Glasgow. Ada's death record listed his occupation as contractor's carter. This record also gave her father as Thomas Cooper, workhouse keeper, decd., and her mother as Ann Cooper, maiden name Tomlinson, decd. The marriage record of Mary Ellen and George listed him as ironfoundry carter, bachelor, aged 27 (b.c. 1859), of 3 St. James Terrace, Kinning Park. His father was James Taylor, sawmill labourer, and Catherine Taylor, maiden name Briens, decd. (R-1)

GENERATION 2
CHILDREN OF JOSEPH GREAVES (1) AND MARY E. COOPER
Joseph Greaves (2) was born about 1880 in England, and supposedly died by 1925. He married Annie Neil in 1900 at Glasgow Plantation. She was born 20 April 1881, and died in Australia. Her parents were Francis Neil (b.c. 1851, 20 in 1871 census) and Margaret Straiton (b.c. 1848, 23 in 1871) Joseph worked as a ship steward. Annie and the 6 children moved to Australia in 1927, and Joseph was never seen by the family again. (R-1)

Ada Mary Greaves (3) was born about 1881 and died 20 April 1928. She first married Robert Duncan Davidson on 10 Dec. 1897 in district of Kinning Park. She secondly married William Robertson McIntosh on 3 Oct. 1912.
Their marriage record was for 1912 Blythswood (644/10) entry 1341 on Oct. 3 at 19 Howard St., Glasgow, by declaration in the presence of William Davies, ship steward, and George McVey, ship steward. According to this record, William was a ship steward, bachelor, aged 25, of 12 Baker St., Crossmyloof, Glasgow. His father was Dugald McIntosh, master mariner, decd., and his mother was Margaret McIntosh, maiden name Robertson, decd. Ada was a widow, aged 31, of 12 Baker St., Crossmyloof, Glasgow. Her father was Joseph Greaves, wholesale druggist, decd, and her mother was Mary Ellen Taylor, previously Greaves, maiden name Cooper. Warrant of Sheriff-Substitute of Lanarkshire, Oct. 3, 1912.
Ada's death record was 1928 Plantation (646/20) entry 217 on April 20 at 94 Middleton St., Govan, Glasgow, aged 46, married 1st Robert Davidson, marine engineer, 2nd William McIntosh. Cause of death was given as carcinoma of the breast. Informant was Robert F. C. Davidson, son. (R-1)
