Cornelius Graves (1) was born about 1796 in CT or NY[1]. He married Mercy ‑‑‑‑‑‑. She was born about 1808 in NY, and probably died before 1860. Cornelius was listed in the 1830 and 1840 censuses for Hastings Twp., Oswego Co., NY. They were in the 1850 census for Hastings, Oswego Co., NY, with 6 children. He was in the 1860 census for Hastings with children Eliza and Russell. He was a farmer. All their children were born in NY.

They were in the 1870 census for Cortlandville, Cortland Co., NY, and in the 1880 census for Virgil, Cortland Co., NY. He was living with his son William as a widower in the 1910 census for Groton, Tompkins Co., NY. He was a farmer. All their children were born in NY. (R‑1)

William M. Graves (9) was born in 1870 and died in 1940. The name of his first wife is not known. He married second Jennie Graham about 1901. She was born about 1869 in NY, and died before 1920. He was in the 1900 census for Cuyler, Cortland Co., NY, as a widower, working as a farm laborer in the household of Neal Dobbins. They were in the 1910 census for Groton, Tompkins Co., NY, with his widowed father living with them. (R‑1)
