DESCENDANTS OF PARENTS OF NATHAN Y. GRAVES, M. ------, AND ELIZABETH E. ------ OF LOGAN CO., SIMPSON CO. & CRITTENDEN CO., KY

GENERATION 1

Nathan Graves (1) was born 1804 in KY. He first married M. ‑‑‑‑‑‑ about 1829. She was born about 1805 in KY. She apparently died 1850-1857. He married second Mrs. Elizabeth E. Johnson on 15 Oct. 1857 in Crittenden Co., KY. She had been married previously to a Mr. Johnson and had at least 3 children by that marriage, Sarah M., b.c. 1844, Richard A., b.c. 1847, and Mary H. Johnson, b.c. 1849. The children listed below are from the 1850 census for Simpson Co., KY, and the 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses for Bell Mines, Crittenden Co., KY.

Nathan was in the 1830 census for Russellville, Logan Co., KY, page 68, with no children. Logan Co. and Simpson Co., KY are next to each other. He was in the 1840 and 1850 censuses for Simpson Co., KY, and the 1860 census for Crittenden Co., KY, Marion P.O. He has not been found in 1870 and probably died before then. All his children were born in KY.

It is possible that Nathan Graves is related to the Graves family of Allen Co., KY and Sumner Co., TN (genealogy 13), since that is the only Graves family known to have lived in this area. Simpson Co. is next to Allen Co.

GENERATION 2

CHILDREN OF ------ GRAVES (1)

John P. Graves (1) was born about 1836 in KY. He married Susan V. ‑‑‑‑‑‑, probably about 1859. She was born about 1827 in KY. The 1860 census for Dist. 1, Crittenden Co., KY, Bell Mines P.O., listed John and Susan with no children, and Levi P., 22, and B. M. (?), 20, living with them. The 1870 census for Bell Mines, Crittenden Co., KY, Weston P.O., page 435, listed all children. Brantley and Simpson families were living nearby. The 1880 census for Bell Mines, Crittenden Co., KY, page 95D, showed children Grant, John, and Sarah living with John. Next door was Eli Graves with nephews Thomas J. and William H. living with him. Susan must have died by 1880. All their children were born in KY. (R‑1)

GENERATION 3

CHILDREN OF JOHN P. GRAVES (1) AND SUSAN V. ------

William H. Graves (9) was born in June 1863 in KY. He married Georgia A. ‑‑‑‑‑‑ about 1897. She was born in Nov. 1874 in KY. They were in the 1900 census for Fords Ferry, Crittenden Co., KY, ED 35, page 4A. He was a farmer. According to that census, William’s parents were both born in TN, not KY. (R‑1)
