He married Anna Wolf, daughter of Heinrich (“Henry”) Peter Wolf and Anna Dickhof, in 1896. She was born 31 July 1877 in Muelheim An Der Ruhr, Rheinland, Preussen (Westphalia, Germany), and died 12 June 1951 in St. Louis, St. Louis Co., MO. Both their children were born in Ladd, Bureau Co., IL.

Walter was a coal mine engineer, and ran the tipple at a coal mine. The family immigrated to New York City on 18 Aug. 1893, departing from Liverpool, England on the ship “Britannic.” (R‑1)
