DESCENDANTS OF JAMES M. GRAVES AND ALICE L. ------ OF NY & CO

GENERATION 1

James M. Graves (1) was born about 1875 in NY, and is said to have died in Greeley, Weld Co., CO, probably 1910-1920 (since he was not in the 1920 census with his family). (Greeley is close to Longmont, CO, where he was living in 1910.) He married Alice L. ‑‑‑‑‑‑ about 1904. She was born about 1876 in MI. They were in the 1910 census for Northwest Longmont, Boulder Co., CO, when he was manager of the Longmont Grill (?). The 1920 census for Willow Grove, Red Willow Co., NE, listed Alice as head of household, with sons James, Donald and Byron, and she was running a boarding house. Although she was listed as married, it seems likely that she was actually a widow. The 1930 census for Glendale, Glendale Twp., Los Angeles Co., CA, listed her as a widow, with son Byron, 18, clerk in fruit market. The other children could not be found in the 1930 census. James has not been found in earlier census records. (R‑1)

4. Byron M. Graves, b. 9 May 1911 (CO), m. ‑‑‑‑‑‑, d. 15 July 1998. The Social Security Death Index gave these birth and death dates. His last residence was Thousand Oaks, Ventura Co., CA, SS No. 562-05-6960.
