SURNAME DISTRIBUTION
The distribution of a surname over time is one tool for indicating origin and migration of people with that surname. The maps below from Hamrick Software show the distribution of the Graves and Greaves surnames in the U.S. from 1850 to 1990. Following that are maps for the U.K. (from the Surnames Profiler database), comparing geographic distribution in 1881 and 1998. After that are distribution and frequency summaries for 7 variation of the surname from Public Profiler/worldnames that include some additional geographic areas.
